Products I Regret Buying #1

Hey everyone! Hope you are doing well, sorry the blog has been a bit slack as of late. Life has become very busy, this summer has certainly been a plot twist but I am enjoying it nonetheless!
These posts are pretty popular in the youtube world and blogosphere, I thought I might as well add my own take on the whiny, negative, 'products I regret buying' trend.

Herbal Essences Body Envy Mousse: I don't even remember why I purchased this in the first place. Honest to god it was so random. And especially embarrassing because I pride myself on being frugal! Anywho...this mousse didn't do anything for my hair (which is naturally flat). It promised body, volume, I envisioned something like the women in the commercials...but this product did no such thing. On top of that it smells very chemical-y *eeeewwww*
Lancome Eye Shadow Quad: This came in a gift set and I was very excited to try it. The colours are wearable and pigmented. Unfortunately (as the photo demonstrates) there is a TON of fallout and therefore these shadows are difficult to use.
Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator: This colour isn't complimentary for my fair skin tone. It is kind of peachy with rose hues. It might work for someone with darker colour but it just didn't look right on me. Also, I found the product very streaky and it took a lot of blending to make it look (somewhat) natural.
Philosophy Marshmallows for Toasting Lipgloss: I loved the shimmer in this gloss, it is finely milled and looks lovely on the lips! However it is the stickiest gloss I have every used! And similar to the Herbal Essences mousse...the smell only contributed to my negative impression. It smelt more like burnt to a crisp marshmallows rather than the perfectly toasted ones I had in mind.
streaky!
Did you like this post? I had mixed feelings about doing it because it is sooo complain-y!
#firstworldproblems much?

  1. In my opinion these kinds of posts are extremely helpful!

Especially when you talk about the "Lancome" eye shadows because I can imagine that these are very expensive. Buying those "luxurious" products and regret it in the end must be SO annoying.

So thanks for posting this. :)

  2. I also like posts like this - it's good to see products that have actually been used and tested and good to see honest reviews. I'm not a fan when people only use a product once or two and then offer a review, I feel you really need to test the product out so yeah, I love these type of posts.

Also, it's a shame the lipgloss didn't work for you, I have it (came in a set) and I just love it and I usually dislike lipglosses haha!

    Thanks for this post!xo

  3. i love these posts! such a shame that the majority are high end products and are usually expensive, you think they'd work a bit better!

  4. Awws, i hate it when products don't turn out to be how you want them to be. The Lancome eyeshadows have too much fall out and i find that Chanel ones are no better too. If you want volume in your hair, you should try Tresseme Volume and lift mousse~ It works wonders for my flat thin hair :) Thanks for sharing xoxo

  5. This is a really great post hun, it's never good when products don't work out for you :( It sucks about the Lancome eyeshadow quad as you'd think they wouldn't have a lot of fall out considering the brand!

  7. I much MUCH prefer these posts than the usual "monthly favorites" or "favorites of the moment"! I got a Lancome Eye Shadow Quad in a gift set too but I was incredibly disappointed at its terrible pigmentation - no fallout though!

    1. Thanks Gaby! I enjoy monthly favourites but sometimes it gets boring hearing people rave about a million different products every couple weeks.

  9. Great post - there are so many products that I regret buying, so things like this are really helpful. You could maybe use the concealer under your eyes if you have any dark circles, as peachy tones are good for brightening? x

  10. I really should do a post like this soon, I have a similar eyeshadow quad like your Lancome one by Chanel and I was so disappointed by it! Really enjoyed the post!
